Style Theory: Pastels are going to be a key look in spring summer 2014. Think gorgeous ice cream tones, pinks, lemons and mint worn together, layer upon layer of subtle colour.

Ice Cream Pastels
I know it is early to be thinking about spring and summer colours but I always like to have in the back of my mind, the colours and styles for the new season so when I shopping so I can buy new items that will completely see me through to Autumn and beyond. For now, pastel sweaters can be layered on top of denim shirts, pastel skirts can be worn with chunky grey knitwear and opaque tights and boots. So with this in mind, here are the designer looks from the SS14 catwalks that inspired this colour trend:

Now how the high street are translating this trend and what to wear now in this cold and wet weather....
Zara Mohair Coat £129
A fabulous coat, wear now with a denim shirt or a breton jumper and a pair of blue distressed jeans and trainers or grey boots.
Asos Vintage Cocoon Coat £110
A gorgeous cosy coat, layer up with a pale grey jumper underneath, black jeans and boots in the winter...beware of the collar it is big so if you are a little bit shorter like myself the collar may be too large but would look fab on taller ladies!
Topshop Knitted Curve Hem Jumper £38
Just a fab, easy wear jumper, sling on now over a denim shirt and a pair of jeans and it will bring a little bit of spring into your wardrobe
Topshop Neat Rib Sweatshirt £24
I love sweaters, they are just so easy to wear. You could layer with a navy & white breton top underneath, turn back the cuffs to reveal the blue stripey arms.
Topshop Cities Tri Yarn Sweatshirt £29
Logo sweatshirts are still big news, this can be worn casual, or if you are going out you could wear it with black flippy skirt, black opaque tights and black block heeled ankle boots. Add the Zara blue coat, ice cream colour deliciousness!
Topshop Knitted Cable Jumper £46
I have this jumper in cream and have worn it non-stop this Autumn, I will be investing in a blue or mint version in the next couple of weeks. (below)
Topshop Cable Jumper £46
Whistles Kassidy Silk Back Sweatshirt £85
This sweatshirt is a little pricey but is is beautiful and would make for a beautiful 'going out' sweatshirt. It has a deep blue silk back which adds interest and makes the jumper a little bit special.
Boden Audrey jumper £69*
A fab longline sweater, I love this neck and it would look fab with white jeans in the summer too!
Boden Cashmere Crew neck Jumper £99*
A beautiful pink colour and this jumper is so soft, would be fab layered up now (think denim shirt, fine gold jewellery and a pale grey scarf) or slung with a pair of pale blue boyfriend jeans on a cool summers eve (if we have any of them this year!?)
* It is worth looking out for a Boden discount code, they bring these out at the beginning of every season so I will let you know if I see one as you may get up to 25% off the items above which makes them not quite so pricey.
Zara Cotton Poplin Shirt £25.99
This shirt has a really cute collar and would look great layered under a pastel sweater.
Boden Long Sleeve Breton £25
A fabulous basic is a sugary colour, wear under navy/dark grey jumpers for the winter then swap to under mints/pale blue/pale grey jumpers for the summer!
